Description

Swithen House is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with quoins and has a stone slate roof. The building is four bays wide, with entrances originally located in bays one and three, although the entrance in bay one appears to have been created by enlarging a window opening. The right-hand window has also been enlarged. There are four-pane sash windows in bay two and to the first floor. All openings have raised, moulded surrounds, and a decorative band runs around the building between the two floors. The steeply-pitched roof has gable-copings on moulded kneelers, and brick end stacks. A lower, rendered addition to the left is not considered to be of particular architectural interest.

The rear elevation has a similar appearance to the front but is plainer. It features two windows and a door to the ground floor, all within plain raised surrounds. Four matching windows are located on the first floor. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
