Description
No. 6 Patrick Pool is a former warehouse, now a shop, dating from around 1600 and restored around 1960. It features a timber-frame structure with infilling of plastered brick tiles, and the rear is built with various orange bricks in an irregular bond. The roof is covered with pantiles.
The exterior is three stories high with three bays, showcasing jettied first and second floors. The shopfront includes a glazed door in the right end bay, set between plate glass windows, and the remaining bays have three-light windows with timber mullions framed in brick. The first and second floors have two-light windows, arranged irregularly between exposed ogee-braced studding.
At the rear, the second floor jetty is underbuilt on the ground and first floors, exposing only the posts on the first floor while the full framing is visible on the second floor. There is a replacement door in the left end bay of the ground floor, a three-light window in the middle bay, and a small four-pane fixed light in the right end bay. Each bay on the first floor has a two-light window, while the second floor features three-light windows in the outer bays.
The right return of the building is three stories high with a gabled attic, and the framing is exposed on all floors, with two-light windows on the second and attic floors. All windows are casements with square leaded lights.
Inside, the framing remains intact, and the roof consists of clasped purlin trusses, with purlins supported on short spurs tenoned to queen struts. The attic floor is made of lime ash plaster.
