Description
Church Cottage is a house that was originally a school and former Post Office. It dates from the early 18th century, with a late 18th-century addition. The building is constructed of red brick and features pantile roofs with two gable stacks. The earlier section has raised and tumbled brick gables. It is two stories high and has three bays.
To the west, there is a single bay from the early 18th century, which has a single plank door now covered by a 20th-century wooden gabled porch. To the left of this door, there is a three-light sliding sash window, with a similar window located above it. To the east, the lower two-bay late 18th-century range has dentilated eaves. The ground floor features two three-light sliding sash windows with shallow segment heads, and above these are two similar windows along with a small casement. Inside, the cottage contains chamfered beams.
