Description
This is a house, now used as a cottage and post office, dating from the mid-17th century with alterations in the mid-18th century and later in the 19th century. The front of the building is red brick with a plain tile roof. Two 19th-century red brick gable stacks are present. The building is single-storey plus attic and has four bays. The front has a single fixed light window to the left, a doorway with a partly glazed door and a 19th-century tiled hood supported on wooden brackets, a small fixed glazing bar light, a doorway with a plank door and a similar 19th-century hood, and a single glazing bar casement on the far right. Above the front are two 19th-century gabled dormers, each with a single glazing bar casement. To the rear of number 2 is an original mid-17th-century timber-framed range. Remnants of the timber frame are visible, including two horizontal rails, two diagonal braces, posts, and some studs. The rear gable wall shows remains of a post, tie beam, and collar.
