Description
71 Walmgate is a late 19th-century house with a shop. It is built of pink-cream mottled brick in Flemish bond, accented with bands and dressings of cream brick, and features a slate roof with a truncated brick stack. The exterior has a three-storey, two-window front. The shopfront includes pilasters with imposts and a cornice on grooved consoles, with a glazed and panelled door that is recessed to the right of a four-light half-canted plate glass window. The first and second floor windows are four-pane sashes with stone sills and segmental arches. There is an eaves corbel table. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value as part of the historic Walmgate.
