Description
This is a terrace of four houses with shops located at 65, 67, 69, and 69A Walmgate, built around 1840. The buildings have been restored and feature renewed shopfronts from the 20th century. They are constructed of orange brick in Flemish bond, with painted stone dressings, and have a timber cornice that extends across the front onto George Street. The roofs are slate, hipped at the corner, and include a decorative corner scroll and brick stacks.
The exterior has a two-storey front with four windows. The shopfronts are characterized by plain pilasters with imposts and a plain cornice, featuring plate glass windows set over timber risers, with glazed and panelled doors below divided overlights. The first-floor windows are 16-pane sashes with channelled wedge lintels, above a sill band that returns on the George Street front. The right return to George Street has two storeys and two windows, with the shopfront of No. 65 returning along this side. The windows on this return match those on the main front. The interiors have not been inspected.
