Description

The White House, now consisting of three separate houses, is an early 19th-century building located on Fulford York Road. The exterior is colourwashed cement render with a Welsh slate roof. The two-storey building has five bays, with the central three bays slightly projecting. The central entrance features a six-panelled door beneath a radial fanlight, set within a door case of fluted pilasters and consoles supporting a dentil frieze. The ground floor windows are tripartite sashes with glazing bars, and the first floor has a band. Above are unequally-hung 15 and 20-pane sashes. Wrought-iron balconies are present on the second and fourth bays. A dentil cornice runs along the top of the building, and there are two hipped roofs that join at the centre, with front and rear chimney stacks. Inside, there is an open well staircase with turned balusters.
