Description

Numbers 6 and 8 on York Road are a pair of houses dating from the mid-18th century, with later additions. They are constructed of pinkish brown brick and topped with a pantile roof. The buildings are two storeys high and feature three windows on the first floor. The entrances, located at the ends and off-centre, consist of 4 and 6-panel doors, with the end door set beneath a fanlight and an elliptical arch with glazing bars. To the left, there are 20th-century garage doors that still show remnants of an elliptical arch. The windows are fitted with 16 and 12-pane sashes. Additional architectural details include a first-floor band, a dentil eaves cornice, brick coping on the left gable, and both end and ridge stacks.
