Description

Holly House and The Old Manor House, located on York Road, are two dwellings that were originally a single house built in the late 18th century, with 19th-century additions and alterations. These include extensions to the left and rear, as well as a rebuilding in 1984 for The Old Manor House. The building is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with ashlar dressings, featuring a pantile roof at the front and stone slates at the rear. It stands three storeys tall and has three bays.

There is a plinth and two steps leading to the central entrance, which has a six-fielded-panel door beneath a fanlight with radial glazing bars, all framed by a doorcase with slender pilasters supporting a pediment. On either side of the entrance are two-storey canted bays with sash windows. Above the door, there is a four-pane sash window. The ground and first-floor windows have sill bands, while the second floor features unequally-hung twelve-pane sashes with ashlar sills. The windows are set under flat arches of rubbed brick on the left bays and under replacement soldier arches on the right.

At the rear and left, there are staircase windows with sixteen-pane sashes that also have radial glazing bars at the top. Inside, each house has an openwell staircase with turned balusters and ramped handrails. Notably, the house was divided before its completion.
