Description
25 and 26 Colliergate is a building in York that was likely originally three houses but is now one shop. It dates from the mid-18th century, with alterations made to No. 25 in the late 19th century and an early 20th-century shopfront. The building is constructed of orange-brown brick in Flemish bond and features a dentil and modillion timber eaves cornice. No. 25 has a slate roof, while No. 26 has a pantile roof, both with a brick stack.
The exterior includes flat dormers with 2-light windows for each house. The building has three storeys and an attic, with a seven-window front. The shopfront extends from No. 24 and includes a carriage entrance at the left end with board folding doors. No. 25 has two one-pane sash windows with painted stone sills and segmental arches made of orange brick on the first and second floors. No. 26 features 12-pane sash windows, with the second-floor windows being squat, also with painted stone sills and flat arches of rubbed brick. There are two inverted bell rainwater heads dated 1768. The interior has not been inspected.
