Description

This is a milepost located approximately 250 metres north-west of Blue Bridge in Rawcliffe, North Yorkshire. It dates from the mid-19th century and is made of cast iron. The milepost has a triangular shape with a sloping upper face. On the left side, there is an attached semicircular plaque that indicates the distance to York as 2 miles. On the right side, another semicircular plaque shows the distance to Easingwold as 11 miles. The sloping upper face displays the distance to London as 198 miles.
