Description

Two houses, built in the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of brick with stone dressings, and have a hipped slate roof. The main block has a three-bay facade with a stone plinth and a first-floor sill band. A single-storey canted bay window with a modillion cornice is on the left-hand side of the ground floor. The remaining windows are glazing bar sashes. The brickwork around the right-hand ground-floor window indicates that it has been rebuilt. The front door is four-panelled, with an overlight and a plain pilaster doorcase with a modillion cornice. A lower, two-storey wing is set back to the right, featuring a wide pilaster doorcase under an angled cornice hood. The left return wall of the main block has one bay with glazing bar sash windows. A two-storey wing is set back to the left; it has one bay facing forward with narrow sashes without glazing bars, and a left-hand return wall with one bay. The first floor has a sash without glazing bars, and a doorcase, which matches the main block's doorcase, is below (leading to No. 21). Further to the left, the wing is blank except for the continuous first-floor sill band. Chimneys are located on the ridge to the left of the central bay of the main block, behind the ridge towards the right, and to the right of the blind set-back. The interior was not inspected.
