Description
The gate piers and gates to the walled garden, along with the adjoining walls located approximately 40 metres south of Heslington Hall, are likely from the early to mid-18th century, with some later repairs to the wall. They are constructed from pinkish-red brick, featuring ashlar dressings and cast-iron gates. The rusticated piers are square in shape and stand about 3.5 metres high, with an ashlar band at the base, an ashlar cornice, and pyramidal caps topped with finials. The gates include bars and dog bars, two levels of rails, and an arched brace. The walls on either side and the left return towards the hall are approximately 3 metres high.
