Description
Nos. 8 and 10 Spurriergate are two houses with shops, built around 1841, with later alterations including a 20th-century shopfront. The buildings are constructed of painted brick in Flemish bond, featuring a timber eaves cornice, a brick stack, and a slate roof. The rear is rendered and has a timber verandah.
The exterior is four stories high with a three-window front. All windows are 8-pane sashes; those on the first and second floors have painted stone sills, while the third floor features a moulded sill band. The first-floor windows have flat arches, and the second and third-floor windows have slightly cambered arches. A polygonal rainwater head and fall pipe with fleur-de-lys clamps are located on the left side. At the rear, there is a cantilevered verandah added to the first floor of the rear wing, which includes casement windows and valanced eaves.
Inside, the upper lights of the verandah windows contain stained glass panels.
