Description
62, 64 and 66 Monkgate is a terrace of three houses built around 1840. They are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature a slate roof. The buildings rise three storeys plus an attic, with each house having two bays. The facade includes a stone plinth and a continuous moulded sill band at the first-floor windows, which are adorned with architraves that have cornices and pulvinated friezes. The upper storeys of each house have recessed brickwork that creates sunken panels around the windows, and there is a second-floor sill band within these panels. A timber gutter cornice runs along the top. The windows are 12-pane glazing bar sashes, and each house features a flat-roofed attic dormer. On the ground floor, there is a single window for each house, with a doorway to the right. The doorways have round-arched surrounds made of rusticated blocks and moulded imposts, and the doors themselves consist of six raised and fielded panels with fanlights above. Chimneys are located on the gables and between the houses. The interior has not been inspected.
