Description

No. 16 Main Street is a house dating from the early 18th century, with later additions and alterations, including a rear outshut and a range to the right that is of no particular interest. The building is constructed of pinkish-brown brick and features a pantile roof. It has a 3-cell, lobby-entry plan and stands two storeys tall with four first-floor windows. The entrance is off-centre, featuring a plank door set within a 20th-century porch. The first floor has four long-pane Yorkshire sashes beneath elliptical arches, which interrupt a stepped, three-course band. Additionally, there are eight-pane Yorkshire sashes under elliptical arches on the first floor. The house is adorned with a dentil eaves band and has a swept roof, with ridge and end stacks. The left gable end displays tumbled-in brickwork.
