Description
This building, located at 1 and 1A Peter Lane in York, is a house that has been converted into a shop and offices. It dates from the mid-19th century and is constructed of pink and cream mottled brick in Flemish bond, featuring a timber shopfront. The building has a timber eaves frieze and guttering supported by modillions, and it is topped with a slate roof that has a brick stack.
The exterior is three stories high with a two-window front. The double shopfront includes a glazed door that is recessed between plate glass windows, which sit above sunk-panelled risers. This is topped by a cornice that incorporates blind boxes on grooved consoles. On the left side, there is a four-panel door providing access to the upper floor of No.1A, complete with an overlight. The windows on the upper floors are 12-pane sashes, featuring painted stone sills and flat arches made of brick.
The interior has not been inspected. Originally, the building included two attached structures of an earlier date, which are now part of No.13 Market Street.
