Description

This mid-19th century public house, now used as building society premises, was altered in 1992. It is constructed of grey-brown brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with the ground floor facing in glazed tile, and features a timber eaves cornice with decorative modillions. The roof is slate-covered with a brick stack at the right end. The three-story, three-window front is framed by Roman Doric pilasters, supporting a full entablature with urn finials at each corner of the cornice. A central recessed doorway has a margin-glazed overlight. Flanking windows are also margin-glazed, with the left being a single plate glass light, and the right consisting of two lights. A 20th-century door is located at the left end. Upper floor windows are eight-pane sashes within cambered brick arches, the first floor sills being painted, and the second floor sills made of stone. The interior was not inspected.
