Description
8 and 9 Parliament Street are two houses with shops that were built between 1836 and 1839, although they have undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The buildings are constructed of painted brick in Flemish bond and feature a moulded timber cornice and a slate roof with two brick chimneys.
The exterior is four storeys high with a four-window front. The shopfront includes canted plate glass windows set between brick piers, and there is a recessed access door for the upstairs on the right end. The windows on the first and second floors are 12-pane sashes, while the third floor has unequal 9-pane sashes. One window each at the right end of the second and third floors has been replaced in the 20th century. All windows have moulded sills and flat arches made of gauged brick. The interior has not been inspected.
