Description
No. 9 Shambles is a house that has been converted into a shop and offices. It dates back to the 15th century, with later alterations and an extension, and underwent renovations in the 20th century, including a new shopfront. The building is timber-framed, featuring a stucco front designed to look like panelling and a rendered rear. It has a pantile roof with a brick chimney.
The exterior is three stories high with a two-window gabled front and jettied upper floors. To the right, there is a four-panel door next to a small-pane four-light window above an external counter. The first-floor windows are two-light large-pane horizontal sliding sashes, while the second-floor window is a three-over-two pane horizontal sliding sash.
Inside, the ground and first floors have exposed chamfered beams.
