Description
22 Burton Stone Lane is a mid-19th century house with an attached coach house, now converted into flats and a garage. The building is constructed of orange-grey brick, featuring Flemish bond at the front and English garden-wall bond elsewhere, with decorative panels of orange brick. It has a stone plinth and painted stone dressings, broadly overhanging eaves, and timber bargeboarded gables beneath a slate roof. The brick stacks have corbel cornices.
The exterior showcases a two-storey, three-bay front with pilaster strips and decorative brick panels. The central bay is deeply recessed, while the outer bays are gabled with full-height shallow projecting bay windows that are banded at the sill level on both floors and at the first-floor level. Steps lead up to a central door with six raised panels, which is recessed beneath a bracketed porch that is formed by a balustraded balcony above. The ground floor windows are one-pane sashes, and the first-floor windows are twelve-pane sashes, all featuring flat brick arches, with the first-floor windows having triple keyblocks.
The returns have extruded chimney stacks towards the front and rear, which double as pilasters. The left return includes a twelve-pane sash window on the first floor and a round-arched radial-glazed sash in the gable end, both with painted stone sills. The right return features a tall bordered eight-pane staircase sash between the ground and first floors, while the round-arched gable end window has been altered for use as a fire escape. The interior has not been inspected.
