Description

KIRMINGTON B 1210 TA 11 SW (south side) 7/24 Gate lodge to Brocklesby Park approximately 70 metres east of Brocklesby Memorial Arch GV II Gate lodge cottage. 1864 for Brocklesby Estate with C20 addition to rear. Chalk ashlar with grey brick dressings and stacks. Welsh slate roof. T- shaped on plan: 2-room range with central projecting single-room wing to road. Single storey and attic, 3 bays, with central single-storey single- bay wing. Chamfered plinth, raised quoins. Board door to rear extension. Blocked original door to wing. Ashlar canted bay window to front of wing with chamfered wood mullions in ashlar reveals, wooden entablature and hipped roof. 2-light and 3-light ground-floor windows with glazing bars, wood mullions in chamfered brick reveals and ashlar hood-moulds. Similar 3- light attic windows to left and right gable ends, with narrow ventilation slits above. Ornate Gothic-style bargeboards with bold finials. Corniced axial stack with 4 shafts to main range; similar single-shaft stack to wing. Ornate banded slates to swept roofs.
