Description

The wall across the south side of the stable yard, located 150 metres north-west of Normanby Hall, was built in 1820 by Sir Robert Smirke for Sir Robert Sheffield. Constructed of brick with later rendering and topped with ashlar coping, the wall stands approximately 2 metres high. It features a central entrance flanked by rectangular piers, which are now blocked, and an arched pedestrian way at the east end. This wall connects the pedimented returns of the east and west stable blocks and encloses the stable yard on the south side.
