Description
No. 53 Bridge Street is a detached house from the early to mid-18th century, built of red brick. It features a small stone frieze and a parapet. The building has three storeys and three windows, with the sides projecting forward. The windows are modern four-light casements. There are stacks at the gable ends. The wood doorcase is adorned with panelled and fluted pilasters and a dentil pediment, although the mouldings are somewhat shallow, suggesting it may be a reconstruction. The door consists of six panels and has a rectangular fanlight above it. A moulded stone band runs between the ground and first floors. This house is part of a group that includes Nos 35 to 56, Nos 56 and 57, and the White Hart Public House, while Nos 35 to 46 are noted for their local interest.
