Description

No. 16 Priestgate is likely a former carriage block dating from the late 18th century. It is a two-storey building constructed of brick, topped with a pantile roof and featuring a dentil brick eaves cornice. There is a modern penticed extension with a door on the east side, and a carriage archway that includes a stone keystone and impost blocks. The building has small windows and a diagonal-set brick eaves cornice on the west elevation. The gable end facing the road has one window above a shop window and a modern door. The west elevation features one hung sash window with glazing bars, along with later window and doorway alterations in a blocked former carriage archway. No. 4 and Nos. 8 to 26 (even) are part of a group with this building.
