Description
Normanby Grange and the adjoining outbuildings were built in 1820 for Sir Robert Sheffield, with later alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble with brick dressings and stacks, topped with a pantile roof. It is two storeys high and has three symmetrical bays, featuring quoins. The central entrance has a panelled door with a rectangular overlight, set within a doorcase from the 1960s. The windows are 16-pane sashes located beneath keyed stucco cambered arches; the central first-floor window retains its original red brick surround, while the others have later replacements. The roof is hipped with end stacks.
To the left side of the farmhouse is a range of single-storey outbuildings made from similar materials. These outbuildings include a sliding sash window with glazing bars, a slatted opening under segmental arches, a round-headed door, and a later inserted door beneath a timber lintel, all featuring brick surrounds.
