Description

This is a row of four early 19th-century terraced houses on Bigby Street. The buildings are two storeys high, constructed of brick with a Welsh slate roof. They feature three brick stacks and a wooden eaves cornice, with brackets supporting the cornice on numbers 21 and 22. Each house has two windows on each floor. The upper windows are hung sashes with glazing bars, set beneath rendered lintels, and a cill band runs along the first floor. The ground floor windows are also hung sashes with glazing bars, and are wider, with three lights each. Four doorways are present, each with pilasters displaying a subtle swelling shape (entasis), a cornice, and a frieze. A stone coped low plinth runs along the base. Two steps lead to the doors, which consist of four fielded panels; a modern door replaces the original at number 22. Numbers 16 to 25 form a group.
