Description
15 Wellowgate is a house, now used as offices, built around 1800 with some renovations in the late 20th century. It features a red brick exterior and a concrete tile roof. The building has a double-depth layout with a central entrance hall and two rooms at the front.
The exterior includes a half-glazed panelled door with a four-pane overlight, set within an architrave and ribbed panelled reveal. There is a round-arched passageway entrance to the far right. The windows have original flush wood architraves and 20th-century imitation sash windows with a 6/6 configuration, and soldier arches are present on the ground floor. The building is adorned with modillioned wooden gutter brackets and has raised gables, with an end stack on the left side.
Inside, the property retains several original features, including an open-well staircase with plain balusters and a ramped corniced handrail. The room on the ground floor to the right has a moulded cornice, a floral ceiling frieze, a dado rail, and arched alcoves flanking the chimney-breast. There are six-ribbed panelled doors and windows in ribbed architraves, along with stone fire surrounds and iron grates on the first floor.
