Description

This is a pair of houses located on Wellowgate, Grimsby, dating to the late 18th century, with later alterations including a late 19th-century shop front to number 17. The building is constructed of red brick, with areas of whitewash. It has a Welsh slate roof.

The exterior is two storeys high, featuring four first-floor windows. Number 19, on the right-hand side, has a recessed, half-glazed, panelled front door, set beneath a lintel, flanked by single plate-glass shop display windows with sills, also beneath lintels. Number 17 has a similar window to the far left, fitted with plain wooden hinged shutters, and a shop front featuring a panelled door, a plain overlight, and a two-pane plate-glass display window with wooden shutters, all within a wood pilastered surround with ornate carved brackets, a frieze, and a cornice. The first floor has six-over-six horizontal sliding sash windows, with a painted date of 1794. There is a stepped and cogged brick eaves cornice, and raised brick-coped gables. A 19th- to 20th-century rebuilt end stack is located on the right-hand side, and a ridge stack is in the centre.

The interior has not been inspected.
