Description
The garden walls to the former Police Station and County Court, now known as the Coroner's Courthouse, were built in 1902 by HC Scaping for Lindsey County Court. These walls are made of red brick with composite stone dressings and are designed in the Edwardian Freestyle.
The section facing Brighowgate features a dwarf wall with a plinth and moulded coping, which includes stumps of iron railings. It is supported by rusticated square-section corner piers that have stone bands, a cornice, and caps. The adjoining section of the wall along the side road to the right also has a similar dwarf wall and a plain entrance with a wooden gate. On the far left, along the north boundary, there is a section of wall with panels of coped walling that ramps up between six square piers with moulded caps.
These walls now serve as the front garden wall for Number 36 Brighowgate, which is not included in this listing. The walls are included for their group value as part of a collection with the Coroner's Courthouse and its garden wall.
