Description
58 and 60 King Edward Street is a pair of shops with offices above, built around 1905 and featuring late 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of ashlar and topped with slate roofs, which include a single coped ashlar ridge stack. It is designed in the Baroque Revival style and stands three storeys tall with a two-window range. The upper two floors are framed by two large segmental arches that are supported by rusticated pilasters, with voussoirs and large complex keystones that include niches extending above the coped parapet. The first floor features three plain sash windows separated by Doric columns within each arch, while the upper floor has four plain sash windows divided by wooden Ionic pilasters. The ground floor is fitted with two late 20th-century shop fronts that have rusticated piers and complex brackets supporting the cornice.
