Description

The Citizens' War Memorial, located 75 meters south-west of the chapel at the Northern Cemetery in Kingston upon Hull, was built in 1951. It is made of Portland stone and sandstone ashlar. The memorial features a slightly tapered square framed panel with an inscription in raised bronze lettering, which is flanked by a low segmental wall that has returns carrying bronze lamps. Beyond this, there is a semicircular coped enclosing wall with coping and flowerbeds. Inside the enclosure, there are shaped steps. This memorial is notable for commemorating civilians who were killed in air attacks between 1939 and 1945.
