Citizens' war memorial. 1951. Portland stone and sandstone ashlar. Slightly tapered square framed panel with inscription in raised bronze lettering, flanked by a low segmental wall whose returns carry bronze lamps. Beyond, semicircular coped enclosing wall with coping and flowerbeds. Within the enclosure, shaped steps. The memorial is unusual in that it commemorates civilians killed in air attacks between 1939 and 1945.
