Description

The following structure shall be added to the list:

TA0928SE WELLINGTON STREET 680-1/25/10056 (South side) 14-MAR-01 Mooring post to the south-east of the dock entrance. II

Mooring post. Erected early C19. C18 cast-iron, 32 ponder cannon, buried in the dock side and used as a mooring post for ships. These cannon were once commonly used for this purpose, after they had become obsolete as weapons. One of the last two surviving mooring posts of this type in Kingston-upon-Hull.
