Description

The mooring post, located to the south-east of the dock entrance, was erected in the early 19th century. It is made from 18th-century cast iron and features a 32-pounder cannon that is buried in the dock side, serving as a mooring post for ships. These cannons were typically repurposed for mooring after becoming obsolete as weapons. This post is one of the last two surviving examples of this type in Kingston-upon-Hull.
