Description

RIMSWELL B 1362 TA 32 NW (east side) Batty's Corner Gate, flanking walls and railings approximately 10 metres west of Rimswell Water Tower GV II Gate, flanking walls and railings. 1916 for Hull Corporation Waterworks. Concrete wall and piers, wrought-iron railings. Semicircular on plan: 12 piers with gateway to fourth bay. Square piers with chamfered plinths, cornices and pyramidal caps, linked by chamfered dwarf wall and railings. The terminal piers and gate piers larger, with more ornate caps, and the gate piers bearing relief inscriptions "H C W" "1916" with Hull coats of arms in relief above. Gates have mid rail and twin top rails, plain bars and dog bars with pointed finials, side principals with scrolled top sections, and central bars with ball finials flanked by similar scrolls, forming a crown motif. Similar railings to sides. Included for group value.
