Description
The Elms is a house that likely dates back to the 18th century but was remodeled in the mid-19th century. It features orange brick that has been rendered and colorwashed on the main elevation, topped with a graduated slate roof. The building is two stories tall with a symmetrical five-bay front. It has a plinth and rusticated quoins. The entrance includes a four-panel door with an overlight that has glazing bars, set in panelled reveals and a soffit within a porch supported by plain columns with foliated capitals, topped with a Composite entablature. To the right and left, there are late 19th-century canted bay windows with sash windows. On the first floor, there are five sash windows with sills and glazing bars set in architraves. The house has end stacks and plain close verges. There are late 20th-century wing walls on either side that are not of special interest. The early 19th-century chimney-pieces mentioned in a previous listing have been removed.
