Description
Manor House is a farmhouse located on Catwick Lane in Long Riston. It dates from the early 18th century for the ground floor, with the first floor added in the early 19th century, along with later alterations. The building features pinkish-brown brick in English garden wall bond on the ground floor and pinkish-yellow brick in a similar bond on the first floor, accented with red brick dressings and a pantile roof. It is two storeys high with four bays and a range at the rear. The entrance is located in the third bay, consisting of a plank door with an overlight that has vertical glazing bars. The windows throughout are four-pane sashes with stone sills, and the ground floor openings are set under flat arches made of gauged brick. The building has a modillion eaves cornice, brick copings, and end stacks, with tumbled-in brickwork on the gable ends. Inside, there is a Neoclassical pine fireplace that has been inserted and cut down.
