Description
Ivy House is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the early to mid-19th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond and features a pantile roof. The building is two stories high with a three-bay center flanked by slightly-recessed, single-storey, single-bay wings, and there is a range at the rear. The original entrance was at the center but is now a plank door located at the rear.
The ground floor of the central block has 16-pane sash windows under cambered heads with stone sills, including where the former entrance was located. On the first floor, there are 12-pane, unequally-hung sash windows with stone sills. A modillion eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. The center block has a hipped roof with side stacks, while the wings also have hipped roofs. Inside, there are plank doors and exposed rafters in some rooms. Ivy House was built as a pair with Burton Cottage.
