Description

Rosemount is a late 18th-century house located on the south side of High Street, Barby-on-the-Marsh. The house is constructed of brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a Welsh slate roof. It features a central entrance with a cross wing to the rear. The main block is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with the central bay projecting slightly. The front door is a six-panel design, set beneath an overlight with decorative glazing bars and a roughly-made timber lintel. Throughout the house, the windows are four-pane sashes with wedge-shaped lintels. The roof has a plain coped parapet, concealing three blocked second-floor windows with wedge lintels. The rear gables have shaped kneelers as well as brick end stacks. Inside, a notable feature is the open-string staircase, which has two slender column-on-vase balusters on each tread and a bulbous newel.
