Description
Westgate House is an early 19th-century house located on the north side of Westgate in North Cave. It is constructed of brick in Flemish bond and features a pantile roof. The building has two parallel ranges beneath an M-shaped roof and includes an off-centre hallway entry. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and has four first-floor windows.
The entrance is accessed by steps leading to a six-fielded-panel door, which is topped by a decorative traceried overlight set within a Tuscan doorcase. To the left of the door are two flush sash windows with glazing bars, while to the right is one flush sash window. The extreme right side features a wide elliptical arch with a keystone and double imposts, which was originally a carriage entrance but has since been blocked and now contains a 20th-century casement window.
On the first floor, there are flush sash windows with glazing bars, all of which are situated beneath flat rubbed-brick arches. The roof includes two 2-light Yorkshire sash dormers, and the gable ends are adorned with coping and shaped kneelers, along with end and ridge stacks.
