Description
Milestone Farmhouse is a house made up of three sections, with the main block dating from the late 18th century. It has a rear cross wing of earlier origins and a 19th-century extension on the right. The building is constructed from coursed rubble and has a pantile roof. The main block features a central hallway entry, with the extension slightly projecting to the right. It is two storeys high, with three bays in the main block that has an asymmetrical appearance, and a single bay in the extension. There is a plinth at the base of the main block. The entrance includes a four-panel door beneath an overlight, set within a 19th-century pedimented doorcase. The main block has four-pane sash windows, while the extension has 16-pane sash windows, all under stuccoed channelled wedge lintels. The main block has gable coping, shaped kneelers, and end stacks. The extension has a lower roof with a hipped roof on the right, featuring stacks that rise from the rear pitch. The rear cross wing is a single storey with a steeply-pitched roof. Inside, there are original fireplaces, including one in the sitting room that has urns and swags on the frieze. The sitting room also features original round-arched keyed alcoves. There is an open-string staircase with square-section balusters and carved tread ends, and basket grates are present in the bedrooms.
