Description
No. 86 Westgate is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with later alterations. It is built of coursed rubble and has a French tile roof. The house features a central entry and is two storeys high with three bays. The entrance has a 20th-century fielded-panel part-glazed door set in a doorcase that includes a canopy supported by decorative consoles. The windows are 4-pane sashes, all positioned beneath flat arches. The eaves have a dentilled course, and the gable ends are tumbled and raised. The left end stack has been rebuilt, while the right end stack has largely been removed. Inside, there is a closed-string dogleg staircase with bulbous balusters and square section newels.
