Description

Nos 2 to 6 on New Walk in Beverley were built around 1870 by William Hawe. This building features two storeys, an attic, and a basement, constructed from yellow brick with stone dressings and topped with a Welsh slate roof. The mansard roof includes five gabled dormers, and there are decorative brackets at the eaves along with a dentil cornice. At the eaves, seven roundels are interspersed with three alternate swags. The facade has nine windows, arranged in pairs and singles, and three canted bays on the ground floor that have plain pilasters extending down to the basement, which is made of red brick. There are three doorways, each with segmental pediments adorned with cartouches and dentil cornices, plain pilasters, and semi-circular fanlights. A fourth doorway is currently blocked. Steps lead up to the doorways, which are bordered by iron balustrades.
