Description

These are two houses, numbers 8 and 10 New Walk, dating to circa 1870 and designed by William Hawe. They are two storeys and attics in construction, featuring white brick with rusticated stone quoins. The roofs are French mansard style, finished in slate, with three gabled dormers and two oval dormers, each topped with crests. The eaves are detailed with dentil moulding and a moulded cornice. The front elevation has three windows, arranged alternately as paired windows and single windows. The ground floor has three canted bays, with depressed arches over the window lights. Round-headed doorways are present, each with a carved keystone, and the cornices above the bays are joined to the moulded eaves cornice. A band runs along the first floor cill level. First floor windows are topped with arched stucco labels and cresting.
