Description

The gate piers at Knedlington Old Hall date from the mid to late 17th century. They are constructed from brick and feature ashlar dressings. The piers have a square section and include flat buttresses on their inner faces, standing approximately 3 metres tall. Each pier has chamfered ashlar bases and is topped with moulded capitals and ball finials, while the buttresses are surmounted by plain consoles with moulded capitals.
