Description
No. 31 Middle Street is a house built in 1777, as indicated by the datestone. It is constructed of brown brick in English garden wall bond and has pantiled roofs. The building is two storeys high with a three-window front. There are 20th-century doors on the right and left, each positioned under channelled wedge lintels with raised keyblocks. To the left, there is an early 20th-century shopfront, also under a channelled wedge lintel with a raised keyblock. The windows throughout the house are 16-pane sashes with sills, set beneath channelled wedge lintels with raised keyblocks. On the first floor, the 16-pane sashes are framed in architraves with sills. The house features a stepped brick eaves cornice and has end and axial stacks. The datestone above the door to the right reads: 'P.R.S 1777'.
