Description
No. 12 Bridgegate is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of brown brick in a random bond pattern and stands three storeys tall with three bays. The entrance features a six-fielded-panel door set beneath an overlight and a segmental arch, with a 20th-century canted bay window to the left. On the first floor, there is a decorative band and sash windows with glazing bars. The second floor also has a band and unequal two-light Yorkshire sashes, topped with a band and a blind coped parapet. The first and second-floor windows are fitted with stone sills and segmental arches. Additionally, there are crow steps on the right side elevation. The building is referenced in Neave D's "Howden Explored," published in 1979.
