Description

This is a house dating to the late 1830s, constructed as part of a group designed by the Howden joiner, John Shepherd. It is built of brick in an English garden wall bond and has a Welsh slate roof. The house is two storeys tall with two windows on the first floor. A half-glazed door sits beneath an overlight, all contained within a doorcase featuring plain jambs and consoles that support dosserets and a hood. To the right of the door is a sash window with glazing bars. A board door, set beneath a round arch, provides access to a passage on the extreme right. The first floor has sash windows with glazing bars, each with a channelled wedge lintel and a panelled dropped keystone. The windows on the left side of the façade, which balance it, actually belong to the adjacent property at No 7 Bishopgate. Paired brackets support the gutter along the roofline. Ridge stacks are also present.
