Description
This early 19th-century house, now offices, is located in Hailgate. It is constructed of colour-washed brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a pantile roof. The building is centrally entered and arranged over three storeys, with three bays. The front door is a six-panelled door set beneath a divided overlight within a reeded doorcase decorated with paterae and a hood supported by consoles. This is flanked by three-light fixed windows within original openings, each set beneath a flat brick arch. Horizontal bands mark the first and second floors. The upper floors feature two-light fixed windows to the central bay and three-light fixed windows to the outer bays, all set within original openings and topped by flat brick arches. The roof has gable coping, shaped kneelers, and end stacks. Tie rod plates on the south gable form the letters "R + D", likely indicating the brewer Robert Daniel, who owned property in the area during the early 19th century. A ground-floor room on the right-hand side features a dentil cornice.
