Description
Two houses of one build, dating from the late 1830s and designed by John Shepherd, a local joiner. The houses are constructed of colour-washed brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a Welsh slate roof. They are two storeys high and feature five first-floor windows. The elevation is symmetrical, with a three-bay facade to the left (No. 28) and a six-fielded-panel front door with decorative overlighting within a fluted doorcase, incorporating panelled reveals and consoles supporting cornices. The other front door is similar, but has a radial fanlight beneath a keyed round arch. All the windows are sash windows; those at No. 28 have four panes, while those at No. 30 have twelve panes. Stone sills are present beneath cambered, channelled wedge lintels, each featuring a fluted keystone. A board door with a divided overlight sits to the far left, with a similar lintel; a further board door is at the far right. Bracketed eaves are present, and the roof is hipped on the left side with ridge stacks. The properties are situated alongside No. 1 Bishopgate, which shares similar window detailing to the right.
