Description

The windmill tower at Mill Nurseries is a structure dating from around 1828, now incorporated into a house. It underwent alterations in the 1980s, which included re-roofing and re-flooring. The tower is made of brick and has a colour-washed finish, topped with a plain tile roof. It features a tapered round design with five storeys, and has segmental-headed doorways and windows fitted with 20th-century doors and glazing. The roof is low pitched and hexagonal. The interior has been largely refitted, and there is a 20th-century porch along with additions to the rear that are not of special interest. Previously known as New Mill, the windmill ceased operation around 1900.
